English 20-1 Blocks One and Three
Today, we will work on how to read a poem (the steps I expect you to follow for every poem you do). If you were not here, ask me for a copy. In addition, you were to analyse the poem "Did I Miss Anything?" This should be finished for tomorrow (there are questions which go with it).
English 30-1 block two
Today, we finished watching the big picture and then you were asked to answer the following questions:
What do these events show about people (in general)???
Why do people fail to react in a crisis?
Why do people react in a morally incorrect way in certain situations?
What is meant by “dehumanization”?
How dies dehumanization affect those who are being dehumanized?
How does dehumanization affect those in charge?
We discussed these as a class. You are to keep these in an accessible place as they will tie in to your next essay. In addition to this, we bagan our short story unit today. You were given a copy of "Everything I need to know about short stories by was too afraid to ask" and had to write down some additional terms.
Social Studies 33 block four
The Soviet Union. We discussed Marx (father of communism) Lenin and the Communist party, Stalin (and all of their beliefs about communism) and Mao Zedong (China and communism - brought it to China in 1949). We took notes on important information about dictatorship (pages 67 and 68 in your text: "The Rise of Dictatorship in the Soviet Union"). Keep in mind that the most powerful dictatorship that has ever existed was the communist government that created the Soviet Union. (today, only Cuba, China and North Korea are still Communist).
YOu were assigned to do A-16 and were given the accompanying readings that go with it on the Soviet Union. I also gave you the handouts "Diagram of the Structure of the Soviet Communist Party" and "Reading 8: Stalin: The Politics of Terror). These are to be read and highlighted on your own. I will give you time today to work on A-16. YOu should be able to do the exercises by tomorrow's class.
