English 20-1 blocks one and three

We discussed and answered questions about the essay: "from If You Drop a Stone". Remember you have an essay unit exam tomorrow (study your terminology).

English 30-1 block three

We marked the essay questions from the essay “from Bruno Bettelheim: Three Ideas to Try in Madison, Minnesota

I then showed a part of the documentary show “The Big Picture” It discussed blind obedience to authority examining a number of incidents (“Death by Water”, Milgram’s Obedience to Authority experiment, Kitty Genovese murder, Macdonald’s Call in Authority, Zimbardo mock prison experiment). These all can be found on the Internet. (we got through teh Macdonald's incident and Milgram experiment. We will do the rest on Tuesday).
We considered the following quotes as well:

“All men are basically good.” – Anne Frank
Calling evil evil safeguards our personalities – Carol Bly (essay)

What do these events show about people??? (this is the question you will be expected to answer).

Social Studies 33
I handed out an info sheet on dictatorships and then you watched part of the A&E special Mussolini. You are also to work on assignment A-14
