English 20-1 blocks one and three
You are going to get class time to work on your major project. You need to have a poem into me today so I can get it on overhead transparency for you. I will probably only give you one more day in class to do this so use your time wisely.
English 30-1 block three
You are working in paired groups and answering questions about the short story "The Lottery". I have pasted the questions below:
INSTRUCTIONS: Explain how each of the following names are symbolic or how they support the theme of the story.
Names:
Mr. Summers Mr. Graves Old Man Warner
Mrs. Delacroix (Hint: This name means something in Latin!)
Tessie Hutchison (Hint: Historical Anne Hutchison)
In what ways is the black box symbolic (there is more than one-brainstorm!)
The date also has symbolic overtones (June Twenty-Seventh). How? (brainstrom possibilities)
The setting itself helps develop the theme. Look at the setting and describe it, then compare it to the theme (innate evilness of man would be the topic....) How does the setting support it? (try!)
What acts in here demonstrate the evilness that exists in man? (be specific).
Social Studies 33 block four
We are starting a new unit (Topic A: Economics)
We are going to look at the first couple of pages of the handout I gave you. We will do assignment A-21 as a class as well. The words you should be able to define from today's lecture/notes are economic system, scarcity, resources, wants, needs, economic processes, economic questions, opportunity cost, productive resources, goods, services, market. I will be assigning chapter seven of A Changing World for you to read for tomorrow.
