English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

We are going to watch Act One of Macbeth and then move on to Act Two. Remember that your Act One questions need to be handed in (I will hand out Act Two today)

English 30-1 Block Two

We are going to mark the following poems: "A Digression", "Common Magic", "Gifts", and "For LIttle Boys Destined For Big Business". Your poetry unit exam is tomorrow. Be sure to study your terminology. You also must be done reading the novel Night by the beginning of class on Thursday so that we can start right in on that unit and hopefully be done by the holidays.

Social Studies 33 Block Four

We are going to examine the fall of the Soviet Union. This will include the following:
Notes of Afghanistan and Central America
A review of Gorbachev
The 1989 revolutions in Eastern Europe
The Doomsday clock
A persuasive Response that you will use for your exam tomorrow.

English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

We will watch Act One of Macbeth. We will then start reading Act Two. Your Act One questions and quotations are also due today.

English 30-1 Block Two

We will mark the poems "Common Magic", "A Digression", and "For Little Boys Destined for Big Business" (m.c. questions and venn).
Remember that you have a unit test tomorrow which will include terminology testing.

Social Studies 33 Block Four

We will discuss the fall of the Soviet Union.

English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

We will continue with Act One of Macbeth. We will finish this act today and then you are to have the questions done in point form for tomorrow. Be sure to work on the questions I have provided (block One will do all the evens - 1,3,7,etc - block three will do all the odds.

English 30-1 Block Two

We will mark the poems "A Digression" and "Common Magic." You will then analyze the poems "Gifts" and "For Little Boys Destined for Big Business." In pairs or by yourselves, you are to do a comparison contrast Venn Diagram.

Social Studies 33 Block Four

You were to finish the booklet I gave you on Thursday on Decolonization and The Vietnam War.
Today, we are going to look at The Middle East. Be sure to work on your cue cards as they are due on Wednesday (which is also when you will have a unit exam on the Cold War).
Readings: 227- 246 (Booklet formation)
We will do assignmnet B-43, B-44, B-47, B-48, B-49, (Booklet Formation). Of these questions, I expect you to answer the true/false and the Multiple choice. We were able to get through most of them in class (B-48 and B-49 with maps still had to be done).

English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

You will write a quiz on characters. We will then read Act One of Macbeth up to and including Scene Three (first block) . You are then expected to look at the questions and quotations and fill in what you can up to this point.

English 30-1 Block Three

We will mark the poem M.C. questions "An Old Man's Winter Night." We will also mark "Nature Notes". I will then be handing out a poem entitled "Common Magic." This needs to be read actively and the questions answered for Monday.

Social Studies 33 Block Four

Today we are going to talk about Decolonization, Terrorism, and Vietnam. You have been given a booklet. We read half of it in class and did some of the questions. The part you have to read at home is about the Vietnam war. You also have to answer the questions. This is due on Monday.

English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

We will have a quiz on the Shakespearean terms I gave you yesterday. I then want to go over the sonnet you paraphrased yesterday. After this, we will look at the Dramatis Personnae and then start reading Act One. I will be giving you both a questions and a quotation sheet to fill in.

English 30-1 Block Two

We will mark "An Old Man's Winter Night" M.C. questions. We will then examine two other poems ("Nature Notes", and "Digression"). You will be expected to read them actively and then answer the M.C. questions.

Social Studies 33 Block Four

We are going to discuss The Cold War 1962 to 1990: Nuclear Power and the Arms Race
( We will discuss the Arms Race, SALT I, SALT II, INF, and other treaties and talks, military spending race)
You will Read unit 52, and do assignment B-30. YOu will then Read Reading 24 and Reading 25 (handouts). Just a reminder as well that you will have a unit exam on the Cold War on Wednesday, December 13.

English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

We will examine some common words (archaic and otherwise) found in Shakespeare's plays. You will have to study 21 of these for a quiz tomorrow. We will then discuss iambic pentameter. You will have to read a sonnet and break it down into its sets of five and then you will have to paraphrase it (line for line) into your own words. This is due tomorrow.

English 30-1 Block Two

We will go over the pictures for the poem "An Old Man's Winter Night". We will discuss the effectiveness of the visuals from the students to accurately depict the poem. Students will then be given the M.C. questions which go with this poem to answer.

Social Studies 33 Block Four

We will examine the Cold War from 1953-1960. (The H-Bomb, Eisenhower and Dulles, Brinkmanship, SEATO, The Hungarian Uprising, The Sputnik, NUclear Missiles, Krushchev and peaceful co-existence, the U-2 incident). We will then discuss The Berlin Wall, and The Cuban Missile Crisis. You will have to do worksheets B- 23, B-24, and B-25 for homework.

English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

We are starting our Shakespeare unit today. You will get a copy of the play from the library, read a handout on Shakespeare's life and times. You are also going to get a handout of archaic terms and then you are going to watch an A&E special on Shakespeare and answer questions.

English 30-1

You are going to do question #2 from Friday (drawing what you read) and you will also answer some multiple choice questions on the poem from yesterday. If you have time left over, I want you to team up and work on your terminology.

Social Studies 33

We are going to examine the Korean War and Eastern European agitation. If you are not here, you will be missing Assignment B-20, B-21, and B-19. In addition to some handouts we will be going over as a class, you are to read pages 204 to 207 and 54 to 58 in your text.

English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

You are writing a novel unit reading comprehension exam today (three readings of excerpts and M.C. questions). Make sure you have either handed in your Lord of the Flies Novel or have it for Monday, so you can exchange it for the play Macbeth.

English 30-1 Block Two

I will be introducing the poetry unit. You assignment will be to define poetic terms. This is due today.

Social Studies 33 Block Four

Today we are going to talk about Soviet Involvement in the Cold War. You will have a reading quiz on what you have learned up to now first. You will then learn about various pacts, the Berlin Crisis, various Soviet Leaders, and outcomes. If you are not here, be sure to read Units 21 and 22 in your text.

English 20-1 Blocks One and Three

You are writing your Lord of the Flies novel comprehension exam today. After this, you will be given a practice reading and multiple choice questions to do to help you with your exam tomorrow (from The World's Fair).

English 30-1 Block Two

We will mark the Doll's House portion of your exam from yesterday. I then want to go over the exam itself in some detail. We will start our poetry unit tomorrow.

Social Studies 33 Block Four

Both your chart and map activity from yesterday are due.
Today we will discuss and define the Superpowers, examining the Truman Doctrin, Marshall Plan, COMECON, and EEC.
You will then read unit 11 (pages 44-47) in your text and do assignment B-35 and B-37 for tomorrow (help for B-37 is on page 47 in your text).
